For hybrid flooring installers

Quote hybrid plank jobs with the expansion gap already factored in

Hybrid runs differently than vinyl plank. Expansion gaps, longer runs and click-system constraints belong in the quote before you start, not as a Monday morning surprise.

Hybrid flooring sits between vinyl plank and engineered timber: rigid enough to need expansion gaps, click-locked so long runs need expansion joints, sensitive enough that the wrong subfloor will telegraph through. AreaSum gives you the room-level measurements you need to spec the right number of boxes, the right T-bar count and the right transition profiles before you load the ute.

Why hybrid flooring installers use it

Built for the way you quote

Per-room area with realistic wastage for click-lock

Click-lock hybrid wastes more than glue-down. Set a per-material wastage percentage that reflects the cut pattern of your usual install. The report shows raw and with-wastage figures so the customer sees both.

Perimeter for scotia, T-bars and expansion profiles

Hybrid needs expansion gaps under skirting or scotia, and T-bars at long runs and doorways. The perimeter figure per room covers scotia; you decide where T-bars land from the plan.

Multi-page projects for whole-house installs

Whole-house hybrid is one quote, not five. Upload every level, draw each room once, and the export rolls totals up across floors.

Questions, answered

What hybrid flooring installers ask first

Does hybrid wastage differ from vinyl plank?

Usually yes. Click-lock hybrid tends to waste a few percent more than glue-down vinyl plank because the lock end cuts are not always reusable. AreaSum lets you set wastage per material so hybrid and vinyl on the same job each get the right figure.

Can I plan expansion joint placement from the report?

Not directly. The plan and the measured rooms show you long runs at a glance; expansion joint placement is still a judgement call. The per-room perimeter and area together give you enough to plan T-bar locations before you order materials.

How does it handle stairs and split levels?

Stair treads are usually not the main hybrid surface; we treat them as separate small rooms. Split levels get their own page in the project, so the totals per level stay clean and the overall project still rolls up.
